If you are traveling through North Carolina nature will impress you. In the east lies a beautiful row of islands called the Outer Banks coast. In the west you find the Great Smoky Mountains. North Carolina can be divided into three regions: the coastal plains, the Piedmont Region and the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the coastal area the ground is very marshy, but further inland  it's very fertile. In the middle lies the Piedmont Plateau, a broad undulating plateau. In the west you find the Blue Ridge Mountains. travel north carolina is the most pleasant in the spring. In the summer it can be very hot. Highlights to traveling are: lost colony, where the Wright Brothers made their first airplane, Great Smoky Mountains, university town Raleigh and Chapel Hill.
